Scholarship Information

HPU offers competitive academic and activity-based scholarship awards to deserving students. These scholarships are awarded largely to incoming freshmen who are graduates of high schools in Hawai'i. A number of academic-based scholarships are also awarded to incoming freshmen from outside of the state. Students who have completed two semesters at the University and who are academically qualified may also apply for Hawai'i Pacific University’s merit-based Scholarships.

Alumni Scholarship Program
  • New Undergraduate or Graduate Students 
  • Description: This scholarship program is established to honor HPUs alumni. When an alumnus/a refers a student to HPU who has not already applied, the referred student will receive a $1,000 tuition scholarship in the name of the alumnus-a.

  • High School Seniors in the State of Hawaii
  • Description: These tuition waiver scholarships are awarded to selected incoming freshmen, graduates of high schools in Hawaii.

Hawai'i High School Writing Awards Competition
  • Juniors and Seniors in the State of Hawaii
  • Description: The University annually conducts a statewide writing competition for juniors and seniors attending public and private high schools in Hawai'i.

  • Description: These tuition waiver scholarships are awarded to incoming freshman who will graduate from high schools on the U.S. mainland.

    In addition to academic scholarships, there are activity-based scholarships such as Athletic, Cheer, Band, Dance and International Vocal Ensemble. While there is a grade point average (GPA) requirement to qualify, tryouts are also held to determine which students are eligible for the team and amounts of scholarship may vary.

    If a student is eligible to receive more than one University awarded scholarship in the same academic term, the student may only choose to keep the one with the highest value. All University awarded scholarships are awarded to students who meet admissions requirements and must be enrolled full-time only.
